Red Light Therapy in Barrie: A New Recovery Service at Evergreen Wellness Studio
At Evergreen Wellness Studio in Barrie, we are always looking for ways to help our patients recover faster, reduce pain, and support long-term wellness.
When our chiropractor Dr. Brittlyn Bos began exploring new ways to help patients recover between treatments, workouts, injuries, and the physical stress of everyday life, one therapy stood out for its research and results:

Red + Near Infrared Light Therapy
That’s why we created The Recovery Room at Evergreen Wellness Studio - a dedicated space designed to support healing, recovery, and nervous system regulation.
We are excited to now offer clinical-grade Red Light Therapy in Barrie using KALA technology, a Canadian company specializing in professional light therapy devices. Their systems are FDA-approved and clinical grade, meaning they deliver therapeutic wavelengths used in healthcare setting
Appointments are now available with Dr. Brittlyn Bos.
What is Red Light Therapy?
Red Light Therapy uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to stimulate healing within the body at a cellular level.
Unlike ultraviolet light from the sun, red light does not damage the skin. Instead, it penetrates tissues and stimulates the mitochondria - the part of your cells responsible for producing energy.
This process is known as photobiomodulation, and it helps support the body’s natural healing process by:
• Improving cellular energy production
• Reducing inflammation
• Supporting tissue repair
• Increasing circulation
• Promoting collagen production
• Helping relieve muscle and joint pain
In simple terms, red light therapy helps your body heal and recover more efficiently.
Red Light vs Near Infrared Light: What’s the Difference?
Red Light Therapy actually includes two therapeutic wavelengths of light, and each works slightly differently in the body.
Red Light (Visible Light):
Red light primarily works on surface tissues and skin.
This wavelength is commonly used to support:
• Skin health and collagen production
• Facial rejuvenation
• Reduced inflammation in facial tissues
• Jaw tension and TMJ discomfort
• Surface muscle recovery
Near Infrared Light (Invisible Light):
Near infrared light penetrates deeper into muscles and joints, making it especially helpful for recovery and pain relief.
This wavelength is often used to support:
• Muscle recovery after workouts
• Joint pain and stiffness
• Back and neck pain
• Tendon and ligament healing
• Sports injury recovery
When used together, red and near infrared light provide both surface and deep tissue benefits, which is why clinical devices often combine both wavelengths.
